Our Christmas Gift

This past week has been an eventful one.  I started back to work.  It was hard, but I am glad that I can do it and have such wonderful people watch my child.  I am only working 2 days a week (Monday and Wednesday).  Mondays my sister watches Kayden and on Wednesday Grandma Workman gets him.  They enjoy spending this time with them.

Kayden is such a wonderful little child.  I look back over the past year and now I couldn't imagine life without him.  He is my Christmas Gift.  I don't want anything more than to be here with him and hold him in my arms.  The days that I am not working I enjoy more and more. He is getting to be so fun.  I can sit and talk to him and he thinks it is so funny.  Today I was changing his diaper and he kept looking at me with a huge grin that wouldn't go away except when he couldn't see me anymore.
I am also ver grateful to have a wonderful, loving, and supportive husband.  He loves our child so much and you can tell by the look in his eyes in the following picture.  Kayden is really starting to respond to Ryan and Ryan's voice.  He loves his daddy.  He is going to be a little daddy's boy, which is bittersweet for me.Last week Kayden, Landon and Brooke had there pictures done at JCPenney.  They were surprisingly all wide awake.  They were so much fun to watch as the photographer tried to get them to keep there heads up.  To view those pictures you can go to www.smilesbywire.com and put in Camilla Workman as the customer and this access code: LTPP0356100558JCPSHR.  You will enjoy them, I can assure you that!

Kayden really looks like he is kissing Landon, but he is really screaming his head off because he had to stop eating so these pictures could be taken.
And last, but not least, my favorite for the day. Kayden is getting so big. He is now wearing 0-3 month clothes HALF the time so I bought him some really cute jeans at Target last night and he wore them today, and I must say he looked really cute. THEN I added the shoes and I couldn't help, but just stare at him. He is so cute. I love being his mother!

It's Play Time

Last night at Grandma Carlings we gave Landon and Kayden there first play time together. They really seemed to enjoy it.  We thought of the idea after Brooke had left. :(  We will get them all together another day.  It was really cute to let Kayden and Landon play together, because we have always said what good friends they were going to be.  I am really anxious to see just how good of friends they become.
Ryan had this last week off of work so we were trying to decide what we should do.  At first we thought that we would go to Utah, but neither of us had a good feeling about it.  If a DING fare had come up for Seattle we would have gone there, but no such luck (thank goodness, they had a ton of flooding).  So we decided to go up to Flagstaff and spend the night on Wednesday.  It was really nice to get away.  I was awake all night, but only because I never realized how many noises Kayden makes in his sleep.  It was fun though.  Kayden is becoming more responsive to people when they talk to him.  He is starting to talk and smile at everyone.  He talked on the phone to Doris today and he loved it.  He got the biggest grin on his face.  She said she was talking about Heber and Henry jumping in the crib.  Kayden sleeps most of the night.  He goes about 4-5 hours between feedings and sleeps until 11 a.m. most days.  He is a good little man!

Last Sunday, we dressed Kayden in his first real Sunday outfit.  He looked so handsome.  It is still really big on him, but he didn't care.  I thought he looked like a little man.  Yesterday, I had him in this really cute outfit that my friend Krista gave him and I thought he looked so cute.  We were at Stake Conference and Elder Deiter F. Uchtdorf was the visiting authority (so we were there a couple of hours early) and he had a diaper blow out.  I was so sad!  I hate those diaper blow outs.  I hear they grow out of them!  I sure hope so!

The picture below is the outfit that my Krista friend gave me.  He still isn't fitting in his 0-3 month clothes, but I love them so I put them on him!!!! =)

He is starting to love his bathtime.  On this particular day he had a doctors appointment and so I was getting him all ready.  He is now weighing 8 lbs. 14 oz.  He has gained 2 lbs. since he was born.  He is almost 22 inches long and continuing to grow.  Being a mom is great!  I love it.And last, but not least.  Here is my one shout out for the day.  Look how cute my little nephew Henry is.  This is my sisters baby.  Isnt' he a doll?  I love his eyes and smile.  They could light up the whole world.
Anyway, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas

Eating, Sleeping, and Growing

Today Gayle, Ryan's Mom, was holding Kayden and we were talking and Kayden started laughing so I pulled out the camera and a couple of minutes later he did the same thing. He laughs all the time and this is the picture that I captured. Sometimes I wake up to him laughing. I have to go over to the bassinet to watch him, because it is TOO cute!

After three weeks of Kayden's life, we finally realized that the curly hair we thought he had at birth was still there. When all the gunk was still in his hair right after he was born we thought his hair was curly. After they washed it, it didn't look so curly. Well, it still is. I gave him a bath the other day and when I was drying him off I dried his hair and this is what it looked like when I pulled the towel away. He has a curly frow. He would be a really cute girl, but I love my boy!

Santa came a little early this year at Grandma Workman's house. This horse is so cute! There are buttons on each of the ears and the horse does different things. It neighs, moves its tails, and nods its head. It is so cute and we can't wait for the grandchildren to get a little older so they can enjoy it a little more!

I bundled Kayden up last night so we could take the Canadian visitors to see the temple lights. It was really cold for being Arizona. It was about 50*. I was frozen so I figured that I better bundle Kayden up real good. He looked so cozy!

Here is my shout out to Brooke and Landon! Need I say any more! ENJOY!

The Randomness (is that a word????)

I just thought that I needed to post some of these pictures that I have taken of the past couple of days. Keith, Dana and Zac have been here and Ryan's grandma, aunt, and cousin flew in from Canada on Sunday the 11th. The Workmans all got together that Sunday night and had dinner at Tyler and Jenny's and it was wonderful. Jenny got the four generations together to take a picture. I am so glad she thought of that.

Doesn't he look like a total chunker? Well, he really isn't that chunky. We were trying to get a picture of him smiling, but he was holding his head in a way that we could get a real good shot of his Prescott double chin! He gets to laughing in his sleep and will get a huge grin on his face. It is so funny!

I had to supplement formula because of Kayden's jaundice. Then I had some difficulties with nursing so he had to take a bottle. I am very fortunate to have a baby that will take a bottle and nurse now. So when I am going to be out and about and I am afraid there won't be a place to nurse him, I pump and give him the bottle. He does not have a hard time going back and forth like some newborns do. He has adjusted very well and he even adds in a pacifier too. He is such a good baby.

While Keith, Dana, and Zac were here these are some of the pictures we took. Zac was so funny! He saw Grandma Marie (from Canada) playing her harmonica and he decided that he could do it too. He took it and figured out that if he sucked and blew that it would make different noises. He did this for a minute and then he started dancing a little by sticking his rear end out. Then he thought he could make us laugh even harder if he blew into it and then he would stick his face up in the air (like in the picture) and make a noise like a train. It was so funny. My sides hurt something bad when he was done.
Then we went shopping at Tempe Marketplace, a new shopping area down here, and he had had enough for the day so LeeAnn took all his clothes off and he played in the water. This is a perfect shot that Dana caught.
Whenever Zac came over he would go looking for the baby. It was so cute. In the picture Zac told Dana to take the baby out of the carseat and when she did he sat in it and told Dana he wanted to hold the baby. So cute!

Grandma Marie adores Kayden. Actually, she adores all her great grandchildren. Last night she was feeling a little down so I let her hold Kayden and she didn't give him up for about 1 1/2 hours. She kept saying how adorable and small he was. She can't ever remember his name so she calls him "Little Ryan". She always asks me if it is okay that she calls him that.

Well, that's about it for now. I hope you all enjoy te pictures of our little guy! We are sure enjoying being his parents.

The Many Faces of Our Little Man

P1000935.JPG">
Yup! That's my boy right about now! I decided that while Kayden is just laying on the bed looking around all wide eyed, I would take advantage of it and post some new pictures of him. He is now a week old and boy has that time flown by. He is such an animated little guy. We are really enjoying him.

He loves his hands. I thought this was so cute. His hands are always by his face and this time they made it to his mouth.

We all know how newborns LOVE to sleep. Kayden is no exception to that rule. He even sleeps at night. He wakes up once or twice a night. The other day he didn't wake up at all, but I did. I was worried he wasn't breathing or something like that. He was just enjoying his sleep that night I guess.

This is his stretching face. He pulls the funniest faces. Anyway, that is all for now. Kayden's eyes have now closed so I am going to try to get a little more rest as well. I hope you all enjoy the pictures!

Welcoming Kayden Ryan Workman

Kayden Ryan Workman joined our family on Nov. 2nd, 2007. He weighed in at 6 lbs. 14 oz. measuring 20 3/4 inches long. After being in the birth canal for about 20 hours you can only imagine what a cone head he had. Right after making his presence into this world he melted our hearts.
My stay at the hospital started on Halloween afternoon. I was cleaning and I really felt like I was going to double over in pain. I called my doctor and he told me to go in. I had Ryan's mom take me just in case they admitted me. They hooked me up to the monitors and they couldn't find my contractions on the screen, but they did notice that his heart rate had dropped for a minute and a half. That was long enough that my doctor wanted to induce labor.
At 4 o'clock that afternoon Dr. Seal induced labor using Pitocin. Well, it worked in the way of making me have contractions, but it only made his heart rate go down more and more. After being on it all night Dr. Seal discontinued use and put in a cervidel which softened my cervix. That was to be in for 8-12 hours. They put that in at 7:30 a.m. on the first and took it out at 2:30 p.m. that same day. It worked in the way of softening my cervix. Dr. Seal decided to try the Pitocin again with on success. This time he sat there by the bed and watched the babies heart rate drop. He dicontinued the Pitocin once again and told me to go into labor on my own. I, of course, thought that would never happen. It did!!!!!! I started having the contractions, got an epidural and that next morning gave birth to a beautiful little boy. He is such a joy. He enjoys sticking his tongue out, keeping his eyes wide open, and making mom and dad happy. He is so cute too. I hope you all enjoy the pictures.
Keith, my brother, came in to town today to see his "grandson". He was so cute holding him on the couch. There is a picture of him. Kayden doesn't fit in to his newborn clothes. He has some growing that he needs to do.

Happy Halloween

Well, since tonight was family night Ryan and I decided that we were going to carve a pumpkin. I have been trying to get all of Ryan's siblings to have a pumpkin carving contest, but they didn't want that. So, we went over to the families house tonight to carve our pumpkin. I bought a carving kit and Ryan (who is very picky when it comes to picking a pumpkin) did the carving and I did the tracing. It was a lot of fun. Ryan was really focused while he was carving. I don't know that I have ever seen him that quiet. It was really cute! Here are some pictures of it. We couldn't find our lighter so maybe I will post another picture of it when we get it all lite up! It will be really cool! It is a witch stirring the brew over a fire!

I got tagged!!!!

Well, I got tagged from my friend Krista ( texasadams.blogspot.com )! I read hers and she is really good. This one is going to be hard for me. So I am going to try it out. I am supposed to say 7 random facts about myself.

1. I have picked so many degrees and have never settled on one. At first it was an interior decorator, an accountant, child science, social work, nursing, and finally nutrition. Crazy, huh! I wish I could just get a degree in a little bit of everything. I guess that is when being a mother counts.

2. I used to hate computers. I could never figure them out, but know with this blogging stuff I am totally addicted. You have all probably figured that out. My husband just laughs at me when he walks in the room and I am trying to figure out something new for my blog.

3. I love to cook. I just wish I had more recipes that were simple so that I could make them more extravigant. I like to spice things up in my own way. Sometimes it turns out good and sometimes it doesn't.

4. I so wish I could see my neices and nephews more. They are too spread out over the United States now-a-days. I miss them all. I guess that is why it is good I am having a baby and the people in Ryan's family are having kids! The only one missing on my side is Henry and on Ryan's side, Brooke and Landon!

5. I wish that I had learned to play the piano a little better. I love to play and wish that I had a real one to play. I secretly dream of being a concert pianist. That would be so amazing. However, I don't like to accompany people. It makes me too nervous.

6. I am addicted to shoes. If I could I would buy some new shoes every chance I got. They make me happy and to me they pull an outfit together. I would be happy to keep the style of shoes forever that were in style my senior year of high school until about 3 years ago. The shoes I started to like and still like are hard to find now. I am not a fan of the thin high heel. They are too hard to walk on. I'm not graceful enough.

7. I love to eat chocolate even though it makes me sick to my stomach. My husband always tries to get it away from me, but I somehow seem to find it all the time! It is an amazing food! As my sister would say, it is part of a food group because it comes from a cocoa bean.

So now I have to tag 7 people:Here's who I tag:
1. Jenny ( tjandb.blogspot.com )
2. Taryn ( rtbchoate.blogspot.com )
3. Kristen ( nksmith0512.blogspot.com )
4. Nikki ( bnsaline.blogspot.com )
5. Erin ( erinturner22.blogspot.com )
6. Dana ( http://web.mac.com/keithprescott1/iWeb/Site/Blog/Blog.html )
7. Adell ( logan-adell.blogspot.com )

Link to your tagger (like I did with Krista) and also post these rules on your blog:
1-Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird
2-Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs
3- Let them know they are TAGGED by leaving a comment on their blog

Galluping Piglets

For those of you who don't know, Ryan and I got put on the activities committee in our new ward. We were excited for this calling because neither one of us had done this before. Tonight was the Halloween Party. They had originally planned on me not being there, but I hadn't had the baby yet so I went and did my part. I started out this morning by making chili in the crock-pot. It was so good. Then I went and helped with the little set up things all afternoon. At the party tonight I spent the majority of my time in the kitchen putting hot dogs in the buns! Fun, right? Gayle and Mark came to see Brooke in her costume and Deena and Aaron came to show off Landon in his costume. It was a lot of fun!

Deena and Aaron looked all over for a halloween costume for Landon. They had a hard time finding one that wouldn't fall off of him. They went to Walmart last night and they saw this and Deena didn't buy it because she thought it would be too big. Well, Gayle thought it would be just fine. When Mark found out that they saw a horse costume he was out the door to Walmart to buy the costume. Doesn't he look so adorable!

Brooke was a Piglet. Need I say more? She made the cutest little Piglet that I had ever seen. She was so happy and loved all the attention she got. What's new though! I didn't realize how much attention people get when they have a baby until I went to the store with Jenny a couple of weeks ago. Everyone has to stop and look. Notice Brooke is pointing in the picture. This is her latest thing. She also knows where her nose is! What a little smartie!

At the end of our fun night this is what I came home to. I am sorry for the fat legs, but aren't my ankles huge? They are nothing compared to what Jenny had to deal with, but for me they are huge.

Babysitting Brooke

Well, many of you know how much I love being around little children. When I moved to Arizona I gave up being around little children. I especially missed my neices and nephews. Since I got married, Ryan's sister-in-law, Jenny, has had a baby girl (Brooke) and Ryan's sisters long awaited arrival (Landon) have joined the family. AND soon to be Kayden. Anyway, today I had the priviledge of babysitting Brooke. She is the happiest little thing and I enjoy every minute I spend with her. I have to take pictures of her everytime she is here, because she is so cute. I also send them to Ryan because she always has some cute little outfit on and he likes to see what she is dressed in.

She loves being in the swing when she is here. The birds and leaves fly in a circle and she stretches as far as she can to reach them. It is the cutest thing.

She was being so funny. She would climb up as high as she could in her car seat and slide down on her belly. This is after she had slid down. She knew I was watching her and taking pictures so she only did it a couple of times. So cute!
